Foundational Learning
REAP: Transforming Lives through Education.
Foundational learning – why is it important? Nearly six-out-of-ten children globally are estimated to be affected by learning poverty, meaning they are unable to read and understand a simple text by the age of ten (i.e. Grade-5). This learning crisis has been exacerbated by the Covid 19 pandemic. Foundational learning provides the building blocks for all other learning, knowledge, and higher order skills that children and youth need to attain through education. Foundational learning is critical to enable all children to reach their full potential and participate in society.
REAP has been committed to this cause since its inception, offering programs to ensure children from slum areas receive quality foundational education. Initially offering classes in multiple languages, REAP shifted focus to English Nursery in 2023 to meet the evolving needs of the community. Our mission is to empower children through early education, ensuring a strong foundation for their future.
Nursery
Our Nursery program is designed to introduce young minds to the world of learning through play and exploration. We create a nurturing and stimulating environment where children aged 3-4 years can develop their cognitive, social, and motor skills. Through interactive activities, stories, and songs, we lay the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning.
Jr. KG (Junior Kindergarten)
In Jr. KG, we continue to build on the foundational skills introduced in Nursery. Children aged 4-5 years are engaged in a structured yet dynamic curriculum that includes basic literacy and numeracy, along with creative arts and physical activities. Our goal is to ensure that each child is ready to transition smoothly to the next level of their educational journey.
Sr. KG (Senior Kindergarten)
Our Sr. KG program is aimed at children aged 5-6 years, preparing them for formal schooling. At this stage, we emphasize the development of reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. We also focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and social interactions to ensure that our students are well-rounded and confident as they step into primary education.
Special Features Of Foundation Learning Program
Community-Centric Approach: We work directly within slum communities, ensuring that education is accessible to those who need it the most. Our teachers are trained to address the unique challenges faced by children in these areas.
Holistic Development: Beyond academics, we prioritize the overall development of each child. Our programs include extracurricular activities such as arts, sports, and life skills to foster well-rounded growth.
Parent Involvement: We believe that education is a collaborative effort. By involving parents and caregivers in the learning process, we create a supportive environment that extends beyond the classroom.
Safe Learning Spaces: Our learning centers are safe havens where children can learn and grow without fear or distraction. We provide all necessary resources, including books, educational materials, and nutritious snacks.
