Foundation Learning

Laying the Groundwork for Lifelong Learning
At REAP, we believe every child deserves a strong educational foundation—one that empowers them to read, write, and think with confidence. Our Foundational Learning Program is designed for children from underserved communities who lack access to quality early and primary education, especially first-generation learners in the slums of Kalwa East and Thane.
Why Foundational Learning Matters?
Millions of children in India struggle with basic literacy and numeracy, often falling behind before they even begin. Through REAP’s targeted support, we help bridge this critical gap by ensuring children build core competencies early on, setting the stage for lifelong success.

Our Approach
- We use a child-centered, level-based teaching method focused on:
- Reading & Comprehension (in English, Hindi, and Marathi)
- Writing & Creative Expression
- Foundational Math (numbers, operations, problem-solving)
- Life Skills & Confidence Building
- Our model includes:
- Baseline assessments to track each child’s learning level
- Grouping by ability—not by age—for effective teaching
- Phonics, story cards, games, and hands-on learning tools
- Regular parent engagement and progress updates

Our Impact
- 70%+ students advanced at least one level in reading
- 55% of children achieved grade-level learning by year-end (up from 30% at baseline)
- Noticeable improvements in writing, problem-solving, and classroom participation
